When you land a direct hit on someone you can take some of their soul by spending 8 resources or they can give it willingly. With this soul you can do a number of things, after doing one of these things you lose that bit of light and must use Take Soul again.
Damage: You can strike the soul, it counts as a direct hit. No matter where the target is they will take this damage. 
Follow: You can let the soul go and follow it back to it’s owner.
See: You can focus on the soul and experience the world through whoever owns it, you can’t move or speak or sense the world around yourself when doing this.
After a rest you can re-spend the resources to keep any soul you still have, if you are under the effects of your soul being taken you lose five from your maximum hp.
