Alien to the worlds around them, living in a realm between the other realms, for years we could see the moonlings’ homes but never visit them.
Moonlings
Tears from a God
Humanity used to have one great kingdom ruled by their immortal rulers. When the Star God was killed, the Moon God didn’t take it well - she couldn’t be around her brother, the Sun God. She took a piece of the realm with the humans on it and brought them into the space between realms to make a new home, the Moon. The Moon is very different from other realms and not perfectly made. Gravity is much lighter than in other realms. This had many effects on the humans she took. They became very tall and lanky with purple skin and black eyes with markings of the Moon's tears. They also have tails, and long antennae on their ears. Completely alien to the humans they once were and having been isolated for so long, many forgot they were ever once human. Moonlings look different depending on whether they are born on the Moon or in another realm; when born on another realm, they resemble the phase the Moon was in at the time of their birth. A moonling's skin can range from shades of purple, to more pink, blue or red. The same can be said for their hair, with the addition of black and white, with a variety of curls and textures. Their eyes are either completely black or white when born on the Moon; when born off-moon their eyes match the phase the Moon was in. A moonling's eyes don't move. Moonlings born off-moon tend to be shorter than those born on the Moon.
Sight Beyond Eyes
Moonlings tend to wear veils or other coverings over their eyes, which are very important in moonling culture. They tell a lot about a person and tend to be the main way others observe the world. The eyes are the greatest way to see one's sadness. Sharing sight with someone is important to moonlings, so they tend to not give it away easily, covering their eyes to hide their emotions. They tend to ‘see’ the world with their antennae, allowing them to get an almost 360-degree awareness of their bodies.
Moonling Culture
Moonlings are very isolated. There is no proper realm gate to the Moon, but instead a large dome-like building that can send people to other realms. Getting back to the Moon requires a mastery of magic that many don’t have. Since magic is very important to moonling culture, it is seen as a right of passage for exceptional mages to leave the Moon and find their own way back. Throughout history, moonlings have been found in other realms working to master their skills of magic and learn from other cultures. Their own culture is very different from those of other species; they tend to still live on the Moon and worship only her. Sadness is prevalent in their culture and they are built on mourning. They also split themselves up into two groups, Foxes and Rabbits. The legend is that the dark side of the Moon is the rabbit running away from the light side, the fox. On the Moon realm, if you're born in the dark you are a rabbit and if born in the light, you're a fox. Moonlings look very different when born off the Moon realm, resembling the phase of the Moon. Counting if the phase is more white or black determines if they're a fox or rabbit.
Moonlings as Champions
While it’s popular for a Moonling to be the Moon Champion many Moonlings who leave the Moon will try to achieve other gods marks so that they can learn. Gaining the Space Gods mark is seen as an operate way of returning to the moon.
Antennae
Moonlings have antennae that help them better perceive the world. They can’t suffer from having the Obscured Condition by the environment, when given the heavily obscured condition by the environment they only suffer from the obscured. Look rolls within your sphere range around you gain a +2.
